Shoulder Taps

Build shoulder stability, core control, and upper-body strength with a simple bodyweight movement.

🎯 Main Focus

Shoulders, core, chest, arms, and overall body stability.

💪 Difficulty

Beginner to intermediate. Focus on stability before speed.

How To Perform Shoulder Taps

1

Start In A Strong Plank

Place your hands underneath or slightly wider than your shoulders. Extend your legs behind you and keep your body in a straight line.

2

Brace Your Core

Tighten your stomach and keep your hips as level as possible. Avoid twisting your body from side to side.

3

Tap The Opposite Shoulder

Lift one hand from the floor and slowly tap the opposite shoulder. Keep the supporting arm strong and stable.

4

Alternate Sides

Return your hand to the floor and repeat on the other side. Continue alternating while maintaining control.

⭐ Shoulder Training Tip

The goal is not to tap your shoulders as quickly as possible.

Try to keep your hips quiet while your hands move. The less your body rotates, the more control you are developing.

Controlled repetitions are better than rushed repetitions. Focus on stability, balance, and clean movement.

💪 Growth & Strength

Begin with around 8–15 taps per side while maintaining good form.

If the movement is difficult, widen your feet slightly. This gives you a more stable base.

As you become stronger, bring your feet closer together or increase the number of controlled repetitions.

Example progression:

Elevated Shoulder Taps → Wide-Stance Shoulder Taps → Standard Shoulder Taps → Narrow-Stance Shoulder Taps

⚠️ Safety First

Use a stable, non-slippery surface and make sure your hands are firmly planted before beginning.

Avoid excessive twisting through your hips or lower back.

If you cannot keep your body stable, slow down or use an easier variation.

Stop if you experience sharp, sudden, or unusual pain.
